Our Vision, Our Mission

Some of the Orphans (A MUST SEE!!)

This is Pasca. 2 years ago, she was living in the Barlyonia IDP camp. We had identified about 10 orphans from this area, and were on our way to pick them up. As the van drove around the camp picking each one of the 10 orphans up, Pasca followed it. She is a sharp little girl, and she picked up on what was happening. As the last orphan jumped in the van, Pasca sprinted to the van and jumped in. Dennis said, "little girl, what are you doing? You can't come with us right now." Pasca refused to get off and told Dennis, "I am not getting off of this van! I am an orphan and I am coming with you!" Her persistence and determination paid off and she came with us that day. She has been with us for 2 years now, and that same determination continues to grow. She is the head girl student, and is seen as the little mother hen, always taking care of the littler orphans.

Today, Maliam is celebrating her very first birthday. She is 6 today. Happy Birthday Maliam! Let's make it special- Leave a word of encouragement in the comments below and we will send them to her!

This is Juliett. She was born in an IDP camp and at the time when the LRA was attacking and killing. Her ears are damaged as a result of the many gun shots she endured hearing. But today, she can smile. Because of her loving sponsors, she is going to have surgery to mend her ears.

Meet Lydia Ojok:
She is 5 years old who has lost both parents to HIV/AIDS. In 2008, her father died, leaving behind his pregnant wife and 2 children. Lydia's mother bore her last-born and became ill with HIV as well. She died in May of 2011. They left behind 3 children, Lydia being the middle child. After her parents' death, Lydia was left in the custody of her grandmother who is old and weak. Being a young girl, Lydia had to drop out of school so that her elder brother could go to school.

Meet Rozalba. She was born during the time when people were still living in the IDP refugee camp. Her father was never known. Rozalba’s mother, Irene, was a prostitute who lived in the town boarding places where she could get some money for survival easily. Even after Rozalba’s birth, she continued in this lifestyle and she again got pregnant with twins. Shortly after their birth, she and one of the twins died of complications. The surviving twin was taken to Watoto ChildCare ministry. Rozalba is currently living in the village with her grandmother who cannot afford to take care of her. Her grandmother considers Rozalba to be a burden that her daughter left her with, and so does not care much for this little girl. Rozalba has never gone to school and does not even dream or think that something like that will ever happen to her. She is 5 years old, a very reserved and humble child.
